Who is this for? The Emergency First aid for Sport (RQF) qualification is aimed at those undertaking the role of an emergency first aider in a sporting environment, for example PE teachers and sports coaches. The Qualification naturally meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 (1982 NI), however there are additional modules related to head and other injuries and safeguarding while providing first aid to young people.
Pre-Requisites:
This qualification is available to those over 14 years. Those under 16 can undertake the qualification but should not be relied upon to be the sole first aider.
Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language in order to understand the assessment and to undertake the recommended assessment methods.
Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore be physically capable of doing so.
Progression route: Learners may progress onto the following qualifications:
- QNUK Level 3 Award in First aid at Work (RQF)
- QNUK Level 3 Award in Responding to Incidents with an AED (RQF)
Where learners may not be able to undertake the practical elements of the qualification they may wish to undertake the QNUK Level 2 Award in Essential First Aid, which has been developed to provide a more inclusive first aid qualification.
